STEPH GRACE (AU)

One woman, one guitar, one incredible voice. Australian performer Steph Grace is proof that some of the best music comes from the purest ingredients. That’s what European crowds took away when they witnessed Steph supporting English artist Passenger on his 2019 summer tour: 6000+ crowd arenas spellbound by the power of her pure, honest and rousing folk-soul storytelling. After a decade mastering her craft in the pubs and streets of Europe and Australia, the Sydney-born artist relocated to Europe in 2018 to team up in the studio with Chris Vallejo (Passenger, INXS, John Spencer Blues Explosion, et al.).

With Vallejo at the helm, Steph collaborated with Josh Schuberth, (Ben Folds; Josh Pyke), and Jon Solo (Angus & Julia Stone), and will release fresh material in 2019, following acclaimed 2016 release ‘Concentrate’. The new songs, like her performance style, came naturally: “I rented a small granny flat in someone’s backyard on the beach at (Sydney’s) Narrabeen and took my guitar, recording equipment, a bunch of wine. Sometimes I just read books or went to the beach but mostly I buried myself in words.” As a 100% independent artist – without label or management representation – the fact that Steph tours and performs at such an elite level is further testament to her rare talents and hard-working ethic.

Some musicians entertain; others transform – Steph manages both, radiating effortless charm, charismatic depth and a storyteller’s warmth, with the magnetism to command the tone of any room, from a 50-cap club to a 10,000-strong arena. With solo shows and summer festival bookings locked in throughout Europe and beyond, Steph is an independent artist on the cusp. And it all comes down to that incredible voice – as well as the soul behind it.
