Recorded over the course of 2 months, Good Bye Folk Boy is the album you get when you take the gentle songwriting of an isolated English folk musician and inject his life with just enough chaos to draw everything into question. There is an unravelling laced throughout this record. An on the edgedness. It veers into darkness and careens back into light. It traces the edge between here and after and never, at any point, shys away from the ferocity of truth. From the opening statements of track ‘Winsome’ which see Luke forced to shine a light on the consequences of his own actions to the brooding and undulative ‘Plumb Loco’ which reeks of forbidden sexuality. Tracks like ‘Told You’ skirt the more flirtatious appeals of suicide whilst ‘Baby, it’s okay, I’m here, wake up’ is the clamor of a sleep paralysised mind trying to keep his partner from too closely exploring those afore mentioned appeals. Philosophical, witty, dark and unapologetically direct, ‘Good Bye Folk Boy’ has, since its release in June of 2019, gone onto establish Luke De-Sciscio as one of the most exciting new voices in the UK singer-songwriter genre. Within weeks of the album appearing on Bandcamp to almost no fanfare, record pioneers Vinyl Moon announced they would be pressing a limited run of the album for UK and US markets.
